obsidian blade

Many years ago I gave away an obsidian blade blank. I'm glad I did, it was left behind by an ex and I didn't want it. But several years later I started thinking about it. For some reason it seemed like I needed to get one of my own, eventually.

It took years, but I finally bought one at the rock and gem show today. It's a different shape than the one I gave away (which is good). I need to add handle leather, and then make a wooden sheath for it so it won't get accidentally broken.

The sun really brings out that rainbow pattern in the tip doesn't it!

44 Days of Witchery - Day 3

44 Days - Day 3 "Witch Tools: Athame"

From Wikipedia:
An Athame or Athamé is a ceremonial dagger, with a double-edged blade and usually a black handle. It is the main ritual implement or magical tool among several used in the religion of Wicca, and is also used in various other neopagan and witchcraft traditions.

The top one is my first, acquired about 20 yrs ago. The second is a fantasy blade, given to me as a gift. The third and fourth ones are only just recently acquired, as in this past weekend, and need some work and cleansing. And a new sheath since I want to carry them together.
